What charger do you have?

Hi all,

I’m interested to know what kind of charger everyone has?

For my PHEV I have a PodPoint 7 KWh charger. It takes about 3.5 hours to charge my car as the max charge rate it can handle is 3.6 KWh. I opted for the 7 KWh charger so I can take advantage of the higher charge rate should I change vehicle in the future.

I also have the standard 3 pin plug charger that came with my Outlander PHEV. It doesn’t get much use these days though as it takes around 5.5 hours to get a full charge. Still, I keep it in the boot just in case.

I have a Chargemaster. It only cost £149 after the grant. Seems to do the trick nicely.

I have a pod point. I’m new to EV’s. I went for the Pod Point because Chargemaster told me they would need to route cables from the fuse board which is under the stairs in the middle of my house. I didn’t want that so tried Pod-Point. They were able to connect straight into my meter box which is on an external wall.

All good I thought but it wasn’t installed for over a month. Then it broke within 3 days and took another 10 days to get fixed. It has since broken again. This time it was fixed quicker but I can’t help but wonder if the hardware isn’t up to scratch. The service was not good as Inhd to constantly chase them to see what was happening with an engineer coming out. It was radio silence otherwise!

I am based in Northern Ireland so maybe they are setup to be able to service NI properly yet.

I am in the market for one so do not currently have one yet. I will be getting one prior to getting my EV though so I need to get this first. I was comparing a few different ones. The Chargemaster stood out to me because it was cheaper but I want to get as fast a charge as possible.

I am in the process of getting one. I don't have room to have one installed in my garage so I am looking at outdoor options. Hoping someone here can help with some recommendations!

This is what I will be getting. I looked around and this one sounds the best to me and isn't too pricey. I will be getting one installed this month so I am prepared for charging my EV.

It is a good deal but the only downside is the slower charging speeds compared to many other brands and makes. I think it really depends on your EV though as some people said the speeds are more than fast enough.
