Wondering about range -- miles and elevation

As with most people considering an EV, I'm wondering about range.

My commute (a couple of times a week) is 160 miles, round trip.

Trouble is, I work about about 200' elevation, and live at 6,000' -- with most of that climb in the last ten miles or so.

My Subaru Outback burns 2 gallons on the way in, and 3 gallons coming home. It averages 28mpg.

We have two Subarus, and I can't say enough nice things about the company. The Solterra is interesting, but we're going to give them time to mature, not buy the first model year. I expect the 2025 or 2026 to have better range.

Thanks in advance for any thoughts.

A lot of EVs offer a good range on one charge. It just comes down to where you live, what roads you drive, and weather conditions.

The downside for people who live in colder climates that have harsher winters is that the battery efficiency drops by quite a bit.
